I
‘m currently away from home-base of Corfu, traveling and teaching.

This limits the time I have to focus on blog-posting …..so I thought to make this particular post simple….and hopefully interesting?

1/ The top 25 downloads from ScienceDirect – of JBMT articles, for the period October to December 2009 – gives a strong clue as to the direction of interest of readers.
A lot of the most popular are “stability related” – with the top No.1 place going to Professor Eyal Lederman’s controversial, “Myth of Core Stability” article…..even though it was not published in print until the January 2010 issue – being downloaded as an “In Press” article, awaiting publication!

2/ The 10 most cited papers published in the past 5 years
This list shows the continuing interest in myofascial pain treatment, as well as reinforcing the evidence of interest in stability and rehabilitation. One author, who appears as a lead or co-author of no less than of four of these ‘top ten’ papers is Cesar Fernández-De-Las-Peñas DO PT.
A new research paper from this phenomenally prolific researcher from Spain will be published in the July issue of JBMT : Referred pain areas of active myofascial trigger points in head, neck, and shoulder muscles, in chronic tension type headache

As Editor-in-Chief of JBMT, this trend towards ever more interest in stability features, is one that I’ve responded to by creating a dedicated section of the quarterly publication, on “Prevention and Rehabilitation”.

Gratifyingly, JBMT is now the official journal of a number of organisations, including both the Pilates Foundation, UK and The Australian Pilates Method Association.

If’ you’re not already familiar with JBMT, and wish to subscribe, click on THIS to go to the home page for details of how to do so – or to request a sample copy to be sent to you. On that page you’ll see a list of the current most downloaded articles.
